Employees of Bralirwa Plc recently visited the Nyanza-Kicukiro Genocide Memorial in Kigali and the Gisenyi Genocide Memorial in Rubavu District. During these visits, the staff paid tribute to their former colleagues who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
This solemn event brought together the management and staff of Bralirwa Plc along with the relatives of the victims. Leaders from various institutions also joined the activities to show their support. A remembrance walk preceded the tribute activities at both memorial sites. Consequently, the event served as a powerful reminder of the company’s commitment to honoring its history and its people.

Honoring dignity through concrete actions in Rubavu
Participants honored the victims by laying wreaths on their graves to restore dignity to the lives unjustly taken. Speaking at the Gisenyi Genocide Memorial, the Mayor of Rubavu District, Mulindwa Prosper, emphasized that remembrance requires a deep responsibility. He noted that words alone are not enough to prevent future atrocities. Instead, he called on individuals and institutions to take concrete actions against divisionism.
Mayor Mulindwa also commended Bralirwa Plc for its consistent participation in these activities. He stated that the company’s involvement significantly supports national efforts to preserve the history of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Promoting equality and healing within the workplace
The Chief Executive Officer of Bralirwa Plc, Ethel Emma-Uche, expressed her deepest condolences to the families of the victims. She said, “We remember our former employees who were among the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. We honor their lives and extend our sympathies to their families and friends during this time of remembrance.” Emma-Uche further added that the company has embraced a workplace culture grounded in equality and respect.
Additionally, Ingabire Veneranda from the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement highlighted the importance of these events. She noted that remembrance plays a crucial role in healing wounds and providing lessons for building a better future for all Rwandans.
