Rayon Sports boosted their hopes of reaching the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 semi-finals after defeating Kenya’s Tusker FC 1-0 on Wednesday at Kigali Pele Stadium in their second Group C match.
The victory earned the Rwandan champions six points from two matches, putting them level with Sudan’s Al Hilal SC at the top of the group.
Al Hilal SC Take Command of Group C
Earlier in the day, Al Hilal SC thrashed Zanzibar’s KVZ FC 4-0 to maintain their perfect start to the tournament.
Goals from captain Rahman, Ahmed Salem, Akire Temple and Ansumana Samura gave the Sudanese side six points and a superior goal difference, keeping them ahead of Rayon Sports in the standings.

Rayon Sports Impress in Front of Home Support
Thousands of Rayon Sports supporters filled Kigali Pele Stadium well before kickoff after watching the earlier Group C fixture.
Head coach made several changes to the starting lineup, bringing in Nshuti Didier to partner Charles Tchouplaou in central defence, while Iradukunda Elie Tatou and Junior Kameni also started.
The changes paid off as Rayon Sports delivered a disciplined defensive display and created several dangerous attacking opportunities throughout the match.
Rayon Sports scored the only goal of the match in first-half stoppage time.
A well-worked move from the right found Atisso Kodjo inside the penalty area, and the winger calmly beat the Tusker FC goalkeeper to hand the hosts a deserved lead before the break.

Tatou Shines as Rayon Continue to Dominate
Rayon Sports remained the better side after the restart and came close to extending their advantage.
One of the best chances came after an excellent passing move involving Issa Djiguiba, Ishimwe Ganijuru and Iradukunda Elie Tatou, whose powerful effort struck the goalpost.
Tatou delivered another impressive performance, earning praise from supporters for his creativity and attacking threat.
Semi-Final Race Heads to Final Group Match
Tusker FC pushed for an equaliser but failed to break through the Rayon Sports defence, suffering their second consecutive defeat after losing 2-0 to Al Hilal SC in their opening match.
Rayon Sports now sit second in Group C with six points, level with Al Hilal SC but behind on goal difference.
The final Group C matches will be played on Saturday, with Rayon Sports facing Al Hilal SC at Amahoro Stadium in a decisive clash for top spot, while Tusker FC will take on KVZ FC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
