Rwanda Cycling Federation President Samson Ndayishimiye, accompanied by Secretary General Arlette Ruyonza, attended the General Assembly of the African Cycling Confederation held in Côte d’Ivoire.
Rwanda Praised for 2025 UCI Road World Championships
A major topic during the meeting was Rwanda’s successful hosting of the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali.
Delegates praised Rwanda for excellent organization, modern infrastructure, and passionate local supporters. The event was described as one of the most memorable editions in recent years and a model for other African countries hoping to host global sporting competitions.

Focus on the 2026 Cycling Season
The assembly also reviewed plans for the 2026 cycling season. Discussions focused on Expanding youth development programs, Increasing continental competitions, Strengthening cooperation among African federations, and Raising the level of cycling across Africa.
Rwanda Commits to Future Cycling Growth
Samson Ndayishimiye reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to cycling development. He said the country wants to build on the legacy of the 2025 championships by investing in training facilities, talent identification, and international partnerships.
Arlette Ruyonza also highlighted the importance of better governance and inclusivity within cycling institutions.

The African Cycling Confederation General Assembly brought together federation leaders from across the continent to share ideas, solve challenges, and shape a common future vision.
Participants agreed that with continued cooperation and investment, cycling in Africa can reach greater heights and earn stronger global recognition. Rwanda’s success was celebrated as proof that African nations can host world class events and develop future champions.
