Lt Col Simon Kabera, Deputy Spokesperson of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), held discussions with a group of Rwandan youth studying abroad, encouraging them to uphold values of patriotism and to take pride in being Rwandan.
The meeting took place at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura with young Rwandans from Belgium, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Nigeria, who are in Rwanda for Youth Tour 2026.
Their visit aimed to help them understand the role of the RDF in safeguarding Rwanda’s sovereignty, maintaining national security, and contributing to socio-economic development.
Lessons from Rwanda’s Liberation History
In his address, Lt Col Kabera explained the RDF’s journey of rebuilding, recalling Rwanda’s history and the events that led to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
He highlighted the role of the RPA Inkotanyi in stopping the genocide, rescuing innocent civilians, liberating the country, and laying the foundation for peace, unity, and security under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, Commander-in-Chief of the RDF.
Lt Col Kabera emphasized that the RPA’s victory was built on values such as patriotism, discipline, selflessness, hard work, resilience, integrity, and respect for laws and regulations.
