More than 160 students from different countries visited the Rwanda National Police headquarters in Kacyiru on Friday, July 10.
The delegation of 165 students, accompanied by parents and teachers from nine African countries, including Rwanda, was received by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, Commissioner for Public Relations and Media and Police Spokesperson, on behalf of the Rwanda Police leadership.
Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp
The students are participating in a 12-day Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp hosted at Ntare Louisenlund School in Bugesera District. The programme is organized by Coderina EdTech, an institution promoting technology-based education, a culture of innovation among young people, and the learning of African history.

Learning About Rwanda Police Operations
During the visit, the students were introduced to the operations of different Rwanda Police departments, with particular emphasis on the Fire and Rescue Brigade and the Traffic Safety Department.
ACP Rutikanga welcomed the delegation, thanking them for choosing Rwanda and for visiting the Rwanda National Police. He explained that Rwanda’s current security is the result of good leadership and active citizen participation.
He said: “In Rwanda today, security is not maintained by security agencies and partners alone. Citizens understand that security is the foundation of everything. That is why they play a role by providing timely information on crimes to prevent them before they happen. The visible peace we enjoy is thanks to visionary leadership and strong governance,”
Technology Driving Better Police Services
He added that to further strengthen public safety, Rwanda National Police has embraced modern technology in services such as traffic management, driving tests and licensing, vehicle inspections, and citizen engagement, ensuring faster and more efficient service delivery.

Understanding Rwanda’s History and Development
Ndekezi Ange Gabriella, head of Coderina EdTech in Rwanda, thanked the Police leadership for hosting the students and for the insightful discussions that helped participants gain knowledge about public security and Rwanda’s journey of rebuilding.
She explained that the idea of launching the Pan-African Innovation Bootcamp grew out of existing youth programmes aimed at preparing young people aged 9–18 to become future leaders. However, they realized that understanding the future first requires learning the history of one’s country.
She noted that the bootcamp was designed to bring together students from across Africa in Rwanda to learn about the country’s history, appreciate the importance of African unity, and share knowledge and experiences.
