Imbuto Foundation has officially launched the ‘Imbuto Hubs’ programme, which will comprise infrastructure facilities designed to support families in development and improve their well-being.
The launch ceremony took place on Friday, July 24, 2026, in Nyamata Sector, Bugesera District.
In Bugesera, First Lady Jeannette Kagame inaugurated the facility known as ‘Imbuto Hub’, which will provide services including health and social welfare counselling, sports and entertainment activities, technology services, vocational training, childcare facilities, and other services, all offered free of charge.
The services are designed for children, young people, and adults.
Programme Set for Nationwide Expansion
Although the Imbuto Hubs programme started in Bugesera, it will later be expanded to Kicukiro, Rwamagana, and Muhanga districts.
Imbuto Foundation plans to establish Imbuto Hubs in every district within the next five years, with the aim of supporting family development and improving the well-being of communities.
Meanwhile, Kimisagara Youth Centre has already been renovated and equipped with services similar to those available at an Imbuto Hub.

Imbuto Hubs to Offer a Wide Range of Community Services
The Imbuto Hubs project was conceived by Imbuto Foundation as part of activities marking its 25 years of existence.
The initiative is considered a new approach to bringing services closer to families by creating spaces where children can access support, whether accompanied by their parents or on their own. The Imbuto Hub in Bugesera includes sports facilities, entertainment spaces, areas for discussions and idea-sharing, a library, and other amenities.
The centres will also host business and project development advisors, innovators’ support services, development partners, and role models whose achievements can inspire young people.
Older youth will provide vocational training in areas such as tailoring, hairdressing, carpentry, handicrafts, literacy skills, and other fields.
However, the vocational courses and services offered at Imbuto Hubs will vary depending on the specific needs of communities in each location.
Imbuto Foundation Highlights Community-Centred Vision
The Chief Executive Officer of Imbuto Foundation, Elodie Shami, said the establishment of Imbuto Hubs aims to build stronger families. She explained that this would be achieved through sports, entertainment, literacy programmes for children, technology, and other initiatives.
she said: “Because this is a culture we want to build, it is not only a culture of Imbuto Foundation. It is a place rooted in the community.”
She added: “It is not just about buildings. Buildings alone do not transform the lives of families; it is people and partners who make that happen. This is the journey we are asking you to support. We are not asking you to help us build buildings, but to take part in building a community.”
Bugesera Leaders Welcome the Initiative
Bugesera District Mayor Richard Mutabazi said the Imbuto Hub established in the district represents a step towards youth development, nurturing young talents, and promoting good governance.
he said: “Building this center is the result of a partnership that began with analysing the needs of children and young people, leading to this program of sports facilities, entertainment spaces, and other services.”
Mayor Mutabazi noted that previously, young people in Bugesera lacked adequate infrastructure, including sports facilities, while some existing ones were outdated.
he said: “We are pleased that our youth now have a modern centre that will help them expand their knowledge, promote innovation, and prepare to contribute to the country’s development.”
