The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has appointed British national Nicholas de-Long as its Youth Football Development Officer.
On Monday, August 17, 2026, the federation announced on its social media platforms that it had appointed a new official responsible for identifying and developing football talent in Rwanda.
De-Long Brings Experience in Youth Football Development
De-Long, who is from the United Kingdom, has extensive experience in youth football development, having worked with several prominent clubs in England.
He has expertise in identifying and nurturing young talent as well as coaching. He has worked with clubs including Portsmouth, Southampton, Bristol Rovers and Norwich City.
De-Long holds a UEFA A coaching licence and has also worked with other clubs, including Greece’s Aris FC, as well as India’s national teams.

New System to Identify and Develop Young Talent
He will work alongside Frédéric Crebiller, the coach responsible for identifying and developing football talent in Rwanda, who was appointed by the world football governing body FIFA.
Together with FERWAFA Technical Director Gérard Buscher, they will establish a comprehensive system for identifying talented young players, developing their skills and helping them reach their full potential.
