Rwanda National Police in the Southern Province has announced the arrest of four people suspected of killing a man.
The body of a 56-year-old man identified as Musonera Abraham was discovered on the morning of August 16, 2026, in Kinyoni Village, Gati Cell, Muyira Sector, Nyanza District.
People who found the deceased’s body said it had multiple visible injuries, suggesting that he had been killed.
Police Launch Investigation into Man’s Death
Various authorities, including the Rwanda National Police, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), DASSO and local authorities, arrived at the scene. They established that during the night of August 15, 2026, an 83-year-old woman had six goats stolen by unidentified thieves.
According to information gathered, an 18-year-old herder was inside the shelter where the goats were kept when the thieves stole them. He raised the alarm, prompting residents to respond. However, they failed to find the goat thieves and instead encountered the deceased, who was walking along the road.
The residents reportedly assaulted him, beating him to death before leaving his body on the road.
The Southern Province Police spokesperson, CIP Kamanzi Hassan, told IGIHE that police acted swiftly after receiving the information and found the injured body of a man lying on the road.
“Police arrested four people suspected of having a role in the death of the deceased. They are being held at Muyira Police Station, while investigations are underway.”
