Nishimwe Naomie, who was crowned Miss Rwanda 2020, has announced that she and her husband, Michael Tesfay, are expecting their first child, describing it as a great blessing from God.
It is joyful news for Naomie and her family, as the former beauty queen revealed that she is preparing to welcome her firstborn.
Naomie shared the news on her Instagram account on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, where she posted a message thanking God for the blessing of becoming parents.
In her message, Naomie said that their unborn child is already deeply loved and expressed that she and Michael Tesfay are eagerly looking forward to meeting the baby.
She wrote: “My God is Yahweh. Jesus, I thank You so much for making us parents. I thank You for continuing to fulfill Your promise and blessing us with this precious child, who is already loved more than words can describe. We cannot wait to see you.”
A Difficult Chapter in Her Life
In her book More Than a Crown, Naomie previously spoke about a difficult period in her life when she suffered a miscarriage while pregnant. She described it as one of the most challenging experiences she has ever faced.
Although she has not spoken extensively about that experience in public, she chose to include it in her book, showing that being Miss Rwanda and a public figure does not mean one is free from personal struggles. She discusses this experience in Chapter Nine of the book.
It appears that after a period of pain, her family has now received joyful news once again.

Marriage to Michael Tesfay
The announcement comes nearly two years after Naomie married Michael Tesfay, who is originally from Ethiopia.
The couple legally married on Friday, December 27, 2024, in Kigali.
Two days later, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, they held their traditional engagement and wedding ceremonies, which beautifully blended Rwandan and Ethiopian cultures.
Their wedding was attended by family members, friends, and several well-known figures in Rwanda’s entertainment industry, including Mutesi Jolly, Miss Rwanda 2016.
Since then, Naomie and Michael have continued building their life together as husband and wife, away from much of the spotlight associated with beauty pageants and entertainment.
