Thailand is mourning the death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol, the eldest child of King Maha Vajiralongkorn. She passed away on Thursday at the age of 47 after spending more than three years in a coma.

Royal Household Announcement
The Royal Household confirmed that Princess Bajrakitiyabha, widely known as Princess Bha, died at a hospital in Bangkok, where she had been receiving medical care since late 2022.
Collapse and Illness
She was hospitalised after collapsing while training her dogs. At the time, officials said she suffered from a mycoplasma infection linked to pneumonia. Limited updates over the years indicated her health continued to deteriorate.

Career and Advocacy
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was a lawyer and a strong advocate for justice. She championed the rights of incarcerated women and founded the Kamlangjai (Inspire) Project, which helps female prisoners prepare for reintegration into society.
She studied law at Thammasat University and later earned a doctorate at Cornell University. Her career included serving as a prosecutor and as Thailand’s Ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2014.
National Mourning
Her death has saddened many across Thailand. She was regarded as one of the most prominent members of the royal family and admired for her dedication to justice and human rights.
