Harry Kane has reached the summit of world football! The Bayern Munich striker has won the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or, ending England’s 25-year wait for one of football’s most prestigious individual awards. He received the trophy at a ceremony held in London on 26 October 2026.
At 33, Kane has finally earned the individual recognition that his remarkable goalscoring career deserves. The England captain finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal in the final rankings, following an outstanding 2025/26 season.
A RECORD-BREAKING SEASON
Kane’s victory was built on extraordinary performances for both Bayern Munich and England. He scored 73 goals in 65 appearances across the 2025/26 season, including 61 goals for Bayern Munich and 12 for his national team.

His goals helped Bayern secure the Bundesliga title, the German Cup and the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. He also finished as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer for the third consecutive season and scored six goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England finished third.
FROM TOTTENHAM STAR TO WORLD FOOTBALL’S BIGGEST STAGE
Born in London on 28 July 1993, Kane developed into one of the most prolific strikers of his generation. He became Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goalscorer, recording 280 goals for the club before joining Bayern Munich in 2023.
Although he had previously won several individual scoring awards, the Ballon d’Or had remained beyond his reach. His 2026 triumph now places him among the select group of English players to have won football’s most famous individual prize.
ENDING ENGLAND’S 25-YEAR WAIT
Kane becomes the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the men’s Ballon d’Or. He joins previous English winners Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Owen in the award’s history.
His victory is also a major moment for Bayern Munich, confirming the club’s striker as the outstanding individual performer of the 2025/26 campaign.
Harry Kane’s journey is a reminder that persistence, consistency and hard work can lead to football’s highest individual honours. After years of scoring goals and leading his teams, he finally has the Ballon d’Or.
