After months of public discussion surrounding the marriage of Ishimwe Vestine and her husband, Ouedraogo Idrissa, including matters that reached investigative and prosecutorial authorities, Idrissa has spoken about his side of the story.
He said he does not want their marital disagreements to turn into a media war, but that there are questions he wants answered through evidence and legal procedures.
In an interview with IGIHE, Idrissa spoke about how their relationship began, why he married Vestine, the problems that emerged after she went to Canada, reports linking him to other women, the issue concerning their child and why he requested a DNA test.
Idrissa did not want to participate in a video interview. When IGIHE asked him to comment, 15 questions were sent to him, which he agreed to answer. Throughout his responses, he avoided going into extensive detail, repeatedly emphasizing that he did not want his problems with his wife to become a subject of media coverage. IGIHE also contacted other people familiar with the couple’s marriage in an effort to compare Idrissa’s account with statements Vestine has previously made.
This was the first time Idrissa had explained in detail how he views the situation in his marriage. However, he avoided what he described as “exchanging accusations” with Vestine or accusing other people of things for which he had no evidence. “I do not want to win an argument against my wife. What I want is for the truth and evidence to come out, and for the competent authorities to do their work.”
I Got Married Believing in the Family We Were Going to Build
Idrissa said his relationship with Vestine began like many others, with the two gradually becoming closer until they decided to live together as husband and wife. “As time went on, our relationship became increasingly important. We went through important moments in life together, and then we decided to build a life as husband and wife.”
Idrissa did not explain how they first met. IGIHE spoke to someone familiar with the couple’s relationship, who said that Idrissa and Vestine met through social media.
According to this person, Idrissa was already living in China. One day, he posted a song by Vestine and Dorcas on his status. One of his followers told him that they could connect him with the singers if he really liked them. That was how he first began communicating with the woman who later became his wife. When asked whether this was true, Idrissa said he did not want his entire relationship to be made public.
He said he did not want the history of their marriage to be explained solely on the basis of the problems that later emerged. “When we decided to get married, I genuinely believed in our relationship and in the future we were building.”
Regarding why he chose to marry Vestine, Idrissa said it was not a decision he made quickly. “Marriage is not a decision I took lightly. I believed that we had a relationship that could be built upon and that we could establish a family.”
He added that the problems that later emerged should not erase the fact that he entered the relationship taking it seriously. A person who knows both of them also told IGIHE that, before the marriage, Vestine and Idrissa attended prayers together. One of the people present reportedly said that God had revealed that the two were husband and wife. They both believed this and decided to live together.

He Spoke About Their Wedding Photos
At different times, people on social media have discussed photographs from their wedding day, with some looking at Idrissa’s facial expression and claiming that he was not happy on that day.
Idrissa denied this, saying that a photograph cannot explain the nature of a person’s relationship. “I do not believe that someone’s facial expression in a few photographs can be used to determine what is happening in their marriage. That day was filled with many emotions, and I do not want people to make conclusions about our relationship based only on photographs.”

Problems Became More Serious After Vestine Went to Canada
Idrissa said that initially he did not see any major problems between him and Vestine. “We had the normal problems that can occur between married couples, but we continued with our lives and family projects.”
He said things began to change significantly after Vestine went to Canada. “Things later changed, especially after Vestine went to Canada. That was when things became more difficult, with problems and disagreements arising over different issues.”
Idrissa did not explain exactly what the disagreements were about. However, one of his close associates told IGIHE that the problem arose when Vestine arrived in Canada and began staying in the same house as Murindahabi Irene, whereas the performance agreements stated that they would stay in separate houses.
The source also said that Vestine began behaving in ways that displeased her husband. A prosecution file shows that on December 4, 2025, lawyers representing Idrissa submitted a complaint to the investigative authorities. The complaint included allegations related to Vestine’s trip to Canada and the role Murindahabi may have played in that trip.
Among the evidence examined were two messages Idrissa had written to Irene. In one, he agreed that Vestine could remain in Canada because she was pregnant, while in another written later, he asked that Vestine return to Rwanda. The prosecution noted that the two messages appeared to contradict each other. These issues also played an important role in the decision concerning the complaint of “abandoning the family.”

Claims About Two Women He Allegedly Impregnated
One of the allegations made against Idrissa is that he had relationships with other women, with reports claiming that two of them became pregnant by him.
Idrissa did not want to discuss the matter in detail. “I am aware of those allegations, but I want to be very careful because they are serious matters concerning private life.”
He said there were “different accounts of what happened” and that a media interview should not become a courtroom for dealing with those allegations. “Where there are specific matters that need to be addressed, I am prepared to respond through the appropriate legal procedures.”
Idrissa declined to confirm or deny reports that he has two children born outside his marriage.
He said: “This is a very private matter. I do not want to give an answer that could be interpreted differently or have consequences for matters that are currently going through legal procedures.”
Why Did He Request a DNA Test?
One of the issues that has generated significant debate concerns the child Vestine gave birth to in Canada. According to prosecution documents, Idrissa had filed a complaint alleging that Vestine did not inform him that she had given birth and had not given him access to the child.
On the other hand, the file indicates that during an interview with an investigator, Vestine said that one of the disagreements she had with Idrissa was that he “did not accept the child.” The document also states that Vestine said Idrissa associated her with Murindahabi. These were statements made by Vestine during the investigation; the file does not present them as established facts.
Idrissa told IGIHE that this was why he chose to seek a scientific answer rather than continue arguing. “There are things that have left me with unanswered questions. Instead of going into public accusations against people, I chose to find a lawful and concrete way of getting an answer.”
He continued: “For me, DNA is not a way of degrading someone. It is a way of establishing the truth where there are unanswered questions.”
He said that pursuing legal procedures to find a way to see the child was not intended to start a war. “It was about wanting to know clearly where I stand as a parent and ensuring that issues concerning the child are addressed properly.”
As the story continued to circulate on social media, some reports also linked the issue concerning the child to Murindahabi Irene, who regularly works with Vestine in music-related activities.
Idrissa chose not to accuse anyone. “I have seen and heard different things being said publicly, but I do not think it would be appropriate to speculate about another person’s involvement or repeat unverified information.”
He added: “I have no intention of accusing or putting someone in trouble based on rumors. If there is an issue that needs to be answered, it should be answered through evidence.”

I Do Not Want to Erase Our Entire Life Because of Problems That Came Later
Although Vestine’s side has publicly expressed that she was hurt by what happened in their marriage, Idrissa said he did not want to dismiss her feelings. “If she was hurt or felt that she had been harmed, I respect that. Those are her feelings and her understanding of what happened.”
He added that Vestine’s account is not the only part of the history of their marriage. “The way I experienced our marriage and what happened does not completely match the way she sees it. That is why I think it is important for both sides to be heard before people reach conclusions.”
He said he did not want to go public with the intention of “attacking” his wife. “She is someone with whom I shared an important part of my life, and I want to speak about all of this in a way that respects that relationship.”
Could They Get Back Together?
Idrissa did not completely rule out the possibility that their relationship could one day be restored, but he refused to make any promises. “For now, the important thing is to resolve the issues before us rather than make promises or talk about what will happen.”
He said that living together again would require things such as “truth, mutual respect, rebuilding trust, and willingness on both sides to resolve the problems that brought them to this point.”

People Should Not Reach Conclusions Based on One Side
Idrissa said what he wants most is for people to stop making conclusions based on what they see on social media.
He continued: “Where there are allegations, I am prepared to respond with the truth and evidence through the appropriate channels.”
He also requested that, in all disagreements concerning their marriage, the child should not be turned into a tool in the conflict between the adults.
