Zinedine Zidane Confirmed as France Head Coach

The French Football Federation (FFF) has officially confirmed Zinedine Zidane as the new head coach of the France national team, Les Bleus, replacing Didier Deschamps, who had been in charge of the team for many years.

Zidane, who is regarded as one of France’s greatest footballers of all time, is set to begin a new chapter in his career after many years of his name being linked with the role.

From French Football Legend to National Team Coach

The 54-year-old is widely known in France for helping the country win the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Euro 2000.

He also served as France’s captain and scored two goals in the 1998 FIFA World Cup Final, when France defeated Brazil 3–0. In 1998, he also won the Ballon d’Or, the award presented to the best footballer in the world.

Zidane’s Remarkable Coaching Career

As a coach, Zidane built a remarkable reputation at Real Madrid, leading the club to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018. He also won two La Liga titles and several other trophies before leaving the club in 2021.

Taking Over From Didier Deschamps

Taking charge of the France national team is a responsibility Zidane has long expressed his desire to undertake. He replaces Deschamps, who spent 14 years as head coach, leading Les Bleus through successful periods, including winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup and reaching the final of the 2022 edition.

Expectations for France’s New Head Coach

Zidane is expected to continue building a team based on young and talented players while maintaining the ability to compete for major trophies. He will also be expected to blend experienced players with emerging talents to ensure that France remains among the favourites to win major tournaments.

However, the new head coach will face the pressure of continuing Deschamps’ legacy, although his achievements as both a player and a coach have given many French people confidence in him.
