The Rwanda National Police (RNP), operating in the Southern Province, has continued conducting awareness campaigns aimed at preventing and combating crime in collaboration with local communities, local authorities, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), and the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF).
The campaign is being carried out under the theme: “Rwandan citizen, take the lead in preventing crimes such as livestock and crop theft, child defilement, genocide ideology, and the production and consumption of substandard alcoholic drinks. Do not remain silent when you witness unlawful acts, because security is a shared responsibility.”

Campaign Held in Kamonyi District
The awareness activity was held on Wednesday in Musambira Sector, Kamonyi District, where residents gathered to discuss ways of strengthening community participation in maintaining peace and security.
The campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to engage citizens in crime prevention and encourage closer cooperation between communities and security institutions.

Residents Praised for Supporting Security Efforts
During the event, local leaders and Rwanda National Police officers commended residents for their continued contribution to security through community night patrols and the timely sharing of information with law enforcement agencies.
Officials noted that citizens have increasingly understood that security is the foundation of sustainable development and a key factor in improving the welfare of communities.

Call for Continued Cooperation
Residents were encouraged to maintain close cooperation with the Rwanda National Police and other security organs in preventing and combating crime while upholding Rwandan cultural values and norms.
Leaders emphasized that ensuring security is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of every citizen.

Warning Against Criminal Activities
Leaders also strongly condemned individuals who continue to engage in criminal activities that threaten public safety and social harmony.
They urged offenders to immediately abandon such practices, warning that anyone found violating the law will face the appropriate legal consequences as provided for under Rwandan law.
