The Kicukiro Primary Court has ordered a DNA test for the child of singer Ishimwe Vestine, of the music duo Vestine & Dorcas, and Idrissa Ouedraogo. The court also granted Idrissa’s request to receive photographs of the child.
The ruling was delivered on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in a case filed by Idrissa against Vestine, seeking DNA testing and the right to see the child.
Court Approves DNA Testing
During the ruling, the judge said Vestine’s side had agreed to Idrissa’s requests for DNA testing and photographs of the child, with the aim of protecting the child’s best interests.
The court considered the agreement between the two parties before ruling in favour of the requests.
Child’s Samples to Be Sent From Canada
The judge noted that Vestine had agreed to have samples collected from the child, Ishimwe Nollah, who is currently in Canada, and sent to Kigali for comparison with samples from Idrissa.
The DNA test is intended to establish the biological relationship between Idrissa and the child.
Court Grants Request for Child’s Photographs
In addition to ordering the DNA test, the court granted Idrissa’s request to receive several photographs of the child.
The judge said the agreement reached by both parties was taken into consideration when determining the requests.
Court Cites Family Law
The court relied on Article 48 of the Law Governing Persons and the Family in reaching its decision.
Taking into account the agreement between the parties and the applicable legal provisions, the judge ruled that Idrissa’s claim was well-founded and recognised his rights concerning the child.
Case Filed in September 2026
Idrissa filed the case at the Kicukiro Primary Court on September 17, 2026.
He asked the court to order Vestine to allow him to see the child and to undergo DNA testing before the divorce proceedings continued.
The latest ruling addresses his requests for access to the child and DNA testing.
