The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has officially announced the opening of applications for candidates wishing to join the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District, Northern Province.
The announcement, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Jacques Burora, Head of Human Resources, sets out the eligibility criteria, registration procedures and timelines for the 2026 academic intake.
Applications Open from September 17 to 26
According to the communiqué, registration will be conducted exclusively through the online E-Recruitment platform available on the official RNP website.
The application window will run from September 17 to September 26, 2026. Applicants are required to follow the guidelines provided on the portal, while additional explanatory materials have been shared through police social media channels. Official contact numbers have also been provided to assist candidates who may have inquiries about the application process.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants
Applicants must be Rwandan citizens aged between 18 and 23 years and must have successfully completed secondary school examinations.
They are also required to demonstrate good moral conduct. Applicants must not have been convicted of crimes carrying sentences longer than six months, dismissed from public service, or have a record of misconduct.
Candidates must further be physically fit, unmarried and academically qualified according to the minimum grade requirements established for the different faculties.

Four Faculties Offered at the College
The National Police College offers specialized faculties reflecting its academic and professional structure. These include Law (LLB), Information Technology (ICT), Modern Languages (ML), and Professional Police Studies (PPS).
Each faculty has specific subject combinations and grade requirements. Candidates applying to the Faculty of Law, for example, must have strong results in subjects such as History, Economics or Geography.
Applicants seeking admission to Information Technology must demonstrate proficiency in Mathematics and Physics. The requirements are designed to ensure that candidates meet the academic demands of their chosen fields.

National Police College Focuses on Professional Training
The National Police College is an important institution in Rwanda’s law enforcement education system. It was established to professionalize policing and strengthen leadership capacity.
Its curriculum combines academic studies with practical training in areas including law, criminology, ethics, community policing and leadership development.
The college has also become a training centre for officers who serve in Rwanda and international missions.

College Contributes to Police Development
Historically, the National Police College has played a role in Rwanda’s post-genocide reconstruction by contributing to the development of a disciplined, accountable and community-oriented police force.
The college has hosted joint training programmes and contributed to the preparation of officers involved in peacekeeping and security operations.
Its graduates have gone on to hold leadership positions within the Rwanda National Police and participate in international missions.
