Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Military Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, visited various development projects in Kigali.
Gen Muhoozi is in Rwanda on a visit that began on July 25, 2026, when he was received by Rwanda’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Mubarakh Muganga.
Tour of Kigali Development Projects
He was shown projects under development in Kigali by Mayor Dudengiyumva Samuel.
On the afternoon of July 26, Gen Muhoozi toured the expansion project of King Faisal Hospital. The expansion will triple the number of beds to 600.
He also visited recreational facilities including Nyandungu Park, which opened in 2022. The park has seen rising visitor numbers, from 67,222 in 2023 to 76,754 in 2024, and by November 2025 had reached around 100,000 visitors. Its revenue also increased from 158 million Rwandan francs in 2024 to over 200 million in 2025.

Housing Development Project
Gen Muhoozi was further shown a housing development project in Gacuriro, Gasabo District, being implemented by Shelter Group Africa.
In addition to these visits, Gen Muhoozi was received by President Kagame on July 25, 2026, for talks focused on strengthening military cooperation between Rwanda and Uganda and other shared interests. They also took time to play a basketball game together.
