Rwanda’s Parliament suspended all scheduled activities on Thursday, July 30, 2026, following the death of Senator Mukabalisa Donatille, who passed away earlier that morning.
According to the Parliament’s Communication Office, activities planned in both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies were postponed as lawmakers paid tribute to Senator Mukabalisa, who had served in both chambers of Parliament.
Senate Session Called Off
The Senate had been scheduled to receive oral responses from Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva on measures to address challenges slowing the development of infrastructure in industrial zones.
Oversight Visits Also Suspended
Meanwhile, the Economic and Finance Committee was expected to conduct oversight visits on the government’s efforts to expand electricity access, with teams scheduled to visit Gasabo and Nyarugenge districts.
Chamber of Deputies Postpones Planned Review
The Chamber of Deputies was also set to review a report from the Committee on Economy and Trade concerning an analysis of a special audit by the Office of the Auditor General on product quality certification services.
