Rwanda and Poland have signed an agreement aimed at enabling family members of embassy personnel to access employment and work more easily in each other’s countries.
The agreement was signed on July 24, 2026, in Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

Agreement Supports Employment Opportunities for Diplomatic Families
The agreement was signed by Wojciech Zajaczkowski, Secretary of State at Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Prof. Anastase Shyaka, Rwanda’s outgoing Ambassador to Poland. It allows eligible family members of diplomats and other embassy staff from both countries to engage in gainful employment while residing in the host country.
Poland Hails Rwanda as First African Partner in Such an Agreement
Zajaczkowski, who oversees African affairs at the ministry, welcomed the milestone and noted that Rwanda is the first African country with which Poland has signed such an agreement.
he said: “We are pleased with our growing relationship with Rwanda. Rwanda is the first African country with which we have signed an agreement of this kind.”
Rwanda Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Poland
Prof. Shyaka thanked Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish Government for the importance they attach to their strong relationship and cooperation with Rwanda.
he said: “Rwanda highly values its excellent partnership with Poland. Just as you consider us among your closest friends, we regard you in the same way.”
More Than Six Decades of Growing Bilateral Relations
Rwanda and Poland have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 61 years, with the past five years marking a particularly significant period in the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
Among the major milestones achieved are the establishment of permanent embassies in both countries and Poland’s emergence as one of Rwanda’s key economic partners.
The two countries have also signed several cooperation agreements across various sectors aimed at promoting the development and well-being of their citizens.
