Inspector General of Police (IGP) CG Felix Namuhoranye has urged police officers preparing to join the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) to continue raising Rwanda’s flag high by maintaining the professionalism for which they are known.
He delivered the message at Rwanda Police Headquarters in Kacyiru on Monday, July 13, to 420 officers divided into three contingents: RWAFPU1, led by Senior Superintendent (SSP) Aimable Busasa; RWAFPU2, led by SSP Jean Paul Dominique Nkurunziza; and RWAPSU, led by SSP Patrick Gashabuka. Each contingent consists of 140 officers and will replace colleagues who have completed a one-year deployment in the Central African Republic.

Represent Rwanda with Excellence
IGP Namuhoranye encouraged the officers to strengthen Rwanda’s international reputation through discipline, dedication, and professionalism.
he said: “You are going to a place where Rwanda has strong reasons to be present. The world knows our country is at the forefront of peacekeeping, especially in protecting civilians in camps for displaced persons and other humanitarian activities. You are therefore required to represent Rwanda well and bring pride to it internationally,” .

Build on the Legacy of Your Predecessors
The Police Chief reminded the officers that the strong performance of previous Rwandan peacekeepers should motivate them to achieve even greater success.
he added: “You are going to a field where everyone knows your predecessors did well. The way you conduct yourselves will determine Rwanda’s continued trust. Do not be the ones to diminish that trust. No officer should commit deliberate mistakes or be involved in misconduct, because there are errors that must be avoided.”
Respect, Discipline, and Teamwork
IGP Namuhoranye also urged the officers to safeguard both personal and shared equipment while maintaining harmonious relationships with international colleagues by respecting their cultures and customs.
Rwanda’s Continued Commitment to Peacekeeping
Rwanda has been deploying police officers to United Nations peacekeeping missions in the Central African Republic since 2014. The country currently maintains four police contingents serving in different parts of the country, including Bangui, Bangassou, and Kaga Bandoro.
