Four Rwandans have graduated from the Air Force Academies of the National Defense University of Turkey, receiving the rank of Second Lieutenant from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The graduates are Byiringiro Arnauld, Cyizere Prince, Mbanzabugabo Daniel, and Mugabe Robert.
Graduation Held in Ankara
Rwanda’s Embassy in Turkey announced that the graduation ceremony took place in Ankara on August 30, 2026.
The Embassy stated: “Yesterday, August 30, 2026, in Ankara, four Rwandans completed their studies at the Military and Air Force Academies of the National Defense University of Turkey.”
The ceremony was attended by Rwanda’s Ambassador to Turkey, Lt Gen (Rtd) Kayonga Charles, along with the military attaché representing Rwanda’s Defence Forces at the embassy.

Graduates Awarded the Rank of Second Lieutenant
According to Rwanda’s Embassy in Turkey, the four graduates were awarded the rank of Second Lieutenant by the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The graduation marks the completion of their military studies and adds to Rwanda’s pool of officers trained through international military education programmes.

Rwanda and Turkey Strengthen Military Cooperation
Rwanda and Turkey maintain cooperation in several sectors, including military affairs, with a particular focus on knowledge exchange.
The two countries have continued to strengthen their relationship through cooperation in defence and other areas.

Leaders Agree to Expand Defence Cooperation
The graduation comes shortly after a telephone conversation between President Erdoğan and President Paul Kagame.
During the conversation, the two leaders agreed to expand and strengthen cooperation between Rwanda and Turkey in defence industries.
The latest graduation therefore reflects the broader military and defence cooperation between the two countries.
