Germany is set to provide Ukraine with 50,000 attack drones, in what is considered one of Berlin’s largest military aid packages aimed at helping Kyiv defend itself against Russia.
Ukraine has relied extensively on drones throughout its more than four year war with Russia. The country now manufactures millions of drones each year, while its armed forces launch thousands of drone attacks every day.
Shrike FPV Drones Included in the Package
The shipment includes 50,000 Shrike first-person view (FPV) drones, manufactured by Sky Fall, one of Ukraine’s leading drone manufacturers.
The drones are equipped with software developed by Auterion, a U.S. based defense technology company specializing in military drone systems.
Auterion Chief Executive Officer Lorenz Meier confirmed the size of the deal, saying it is worth nearly €90 million and is being financed by a European country.
Meier said that some of the drones have already been delivered to the Ukrainian government, while the remaining units will be shipped later this year.
SkyFall also confirmed Germany’s involvement in the initiative but said it could not disclose further details about the agreement.

Expanding Military Support for Ukraine
The Shrike is a lowcost attack drone that has been in service in Ukraine since 2023 and has since gained popularity in other countries.
Meier also revealed that Auterion is helping deliver 100,000 drones to Ukraine this year in partnership with various defense manufacturers and with financial support from several Western governments.
The deliveries include a $50 million contract from the Ministry of Defense to supply 33,000 drones to Ukraine, which Meier said have already been delivered.
Western Allies Increase Drone Assistance
Last month, the United Kingdom also announced that it would provide 150,000 drones to Ukraine this year as part of a £752 million military assistance package.
