Rwanda and Uzbekistan have taken an important step to strengthen their cooperation. The two countries have officially established diplomatic relations.
On April 18, 2026, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Bakhtiyor Saidov, signed the agreement.
In a statement shared on X, Saidov said Rwanda is now the 167th country to have diplomatic ties with Uzbekistan. This step shows Uzbekistan’s growing global outreach. It also reflects Rwanda’s effort to expand its international partnerships.

The new Rwanda Uzbekistan diplomatic relations create opportunities in trade, investment, education, and human rights. Both countries can now discuss opening embassies. This will improve communication and support cooperation.

What Rwanda–Uzbekistan Partnership Means for Global Cooperation
These diplomatic relation allow officials from both countries to work closely on shared priorities. Diplomats will receive legal protection, including diplomatic immunity. This allows them to perform their duties without interference.
