The Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Usta Kaitesi, emphasized that the Permanent Joint Commission between Rwanda and Uganda remains essential in promoting purposeful cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

She said the commission serves as an important platform for dialogue, coordination, and strengthening bilateral ties for the benefit of both nations.
Remarks Made at Closing of 12th Session
Dr. Kaitesi made the remarks while closing the 12th session of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation between Rwanda and Uganda.
She noted that the discussions held and the resolutions reached during the session should not remain on paper, but must be translated into practical steps that deliver real results.
According to her, timely implementation is necessary to ensure that the outcomes of the meeting positively impact the lives of citizens in both countries.
Call for Timely Implementation of Agreements
The minister stressed that commitments made by the two governments should be carried out without delay.
She said turning agreements into action would help address shared priorities and create stronger partnerships in areas that matter most to citizens.
She further emphasized that sustained follow-through is key to maintaining momentum and building trust between the two countries.
Cooperation to Boost Trade, Security and Development
Dr. Kaitesi added that implementing the agreed resolutions would further strengthen the already positive relations between Rwanda and Uganda.
She said stronger cooperation would open more opportunities in trade, improve security collaboration, and support broader development goals.
The continued partnership between Rwanda and Uganda is expected to contribute to regional stability and greater prosperity for both countries.
