The nine members delegation from Gambia has visited Rwanda Police to learn from Rwanda’s experience in road safety, transport management, and technology-based service delivery.
The delegation visited Rwanda Police Headquarters in Kacyiru on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Gambia Delegation Welcomed by Rwanda Police
The delegation, representing Gambia’s Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure and other related institutions, was led by Ebrima Colley, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the ministry.
They were welcomed by DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, Rwanda Police Deputy Inspector General in charge of Administration and Personnel.
The visit was organized to help Gambian officials learn how Rwanda manages road safety, transport services, vehicle inspection, and driver licensing.

Focus on Road Safety and Transport Management
The delegation learned about the enforcement of road safety laws, vehicle inspection and monitoring, driver testing and licensing, traffic management, and public transport services.
They also examined how technology is being used to improve traffic management and make transport services more efficient.

Ujeneza Highlights the Importance of Technology
DCG Ujeneza said the visit provided an opportunity for Rwanda and Gambia to exchange experiences and explore ways of improving road safety and transport services.
She emphasized that technology can reduce unnecessary interactions between service providers and citizens, minimize errors, save time, improve efficiency, and promote transparency.
She also stressed that road safety requires cooperation between authorities and citizens. She said people have a responsibility to understand and respect road safety laws and regulations.
Why Gambia Chose Rwanda
Ebrima Colley said Gambia chose Rwanda because of the progress the country has made in road safety and transport management.
He said the experience gained during the visit would help Gambia improve its transport policies.
He said: “We saw what you have achieved and the good practices you have implemented. That is why we found it important to come to Rwanda to learn from you, combine efforts, and prepare policies we can all be proud of.”
Delegation Visits Rwanda Police Departments
The delegation visited the Rwanda Police Traffic and Road Safety Department and is expected to hold discussions with other departments, including the Vehicle Inspection Unit and the Driver Testing and Licensing Unit.
The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation between Rwanda and Gambia while helping Gambian officials learn from Rwanda’s experience in road safety, transport management, and technology based public services.
