Rwanda’s national airline, RwandAir, has announced the arrival of a new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, marking another step in strengthening its long-haul flight capacity.
RwandAir received the aircraft on Monday, August 24, 2026.

First Delivery in Fleet Growth Strategy
The airline said the aircraft is the first of five Airbus A330 aircraft it plans to add to its fleet.
The new aircraft are expected to increase the airline’s passenger capacity on international routes and support its continued expansion plans.
The aircraft adds to the other Airbus A330-200 aircraft already operated by RwandAir.

Technical Specifications and Passenger Service
The Airbus A330-200 has a cargo capacity of 109.10 cubic metres, a length of 58.37 metres, and a wingspan of 60.30 metres. It has a maximum take-off weight of up to 242 tonnes.
RwandAir said the acquisition is not only intended to increase the size of its fleet but will also help enhance the services it provides to passengers.
Connecting Rwanda to International Markets
The new aircraft arrives as RwandAir continues to expand its long-haul operations, with the airline already serving destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
In a statement, RwandAir said the acquisition represents another milestone in its journey to provide high-quality services and connect Rwanda with the rest of the world through air travel.

Operational Fleet Diversity
RwandAir operates a diverse fleet for both regional and international routes connecting Rwanda with other continents.
Its fleet includes Airbus A330-300, Airbus A330-200, Boeing 737-800NG, Boeing 737-800, and Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft.
The larger Airbus A330 aircraft are primarily used by RwandAir Fleet Services for long-haul international flights.
In addition to its wide-body aircraft, RwandAir also operates smaller aircraft such as Boeing 737s and Bombardier Q400s on regional routes, helping connect Kigali with various cities.
