Rwanda and Cyprus have signed an Air Services Agreement aimed at improving air connectivity and creating more opportunities for air travel between the two countries.
The agreement was signed in New York on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe, and Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Agreement to Improve Air Connectivity
The agreement provides a framework for cooperation in air transport between Rwanda and Cyprus and is intended to increase connectivity between the two countries.
It is expected to create a basis for stronger cooperation in air transport and could support greater movement of passengers and goods between the two countries.
Ministers Discuss Wider Cooperation
During their meeting, the two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Rwanda and Cyprus across different sectors.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Signing Held in New York
The agreement was signed as both ministers were in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting was part of Rwanda’s continued diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation with other countries.
Air Transport to Support Closer Relations
The new agreement adds air transport to the areas of cooperation between Rwanda and Cyprus.
Improved air connectivity can support travel, trade, tourism and other forms of cooperation between the two countries.
Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean, with Nicosia as its capital.
It is located south of Türkiye and is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea.
