Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Consolée Uwimana has praised the transformative role of BRAC in tackling key challenges affecting young women in Rwanda, including teenage pregnancy, youth unemployment, and gender inequality. She emphasized that empowering young women remains central to building resilient families and sustainable communities.

2. Expanding Access to Skills and Economic Opportunities
Through innovative initiatives such as the AIM Programme, more than 30,000 young women have gained access to vocational training, entrepreneurship support, financial literacy, and mentorship. These programmes equip participants with practical tools to start small businesses, secure employment, and pursue further education.
By strengthening both soft skills and technical competencies, the initiative ensures that young women become not only job seekers but also job creators who contribute meaningfully to the national economy.
3. Creating Safe Spaces and Building Confidence
Beyond economic empowerment, the programme provides safe and supportive spaces where young women can openly discuss personal and social challenges. In these environments, participants develop self-esteem, leadership skills, and awareness of their rights and responsibilities.
Such safe spaces also play a vital role in preventing gender-based violence and reducing vulnerability, enabling young women to make informed life decisions with confidence and independence.
4. Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact
The success of these initiatives is driven by strong collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and local communities. Minister Uwimana noted that sustainable change requires collective effort and continued investment in youth-focused programmes.
Through coordinated action, stakeholders ensure that empowerment initiatives remain inclusive, scalable, and aligned with national development priorities.
5. A Bold Vision for 2030 and Beyond
With an ambitious target of reaching 100,000 more young women by 2030, BRAC aims to expand its impact nationwide. This vision supports Rwanda’s broader goals of gender equality, poverty reduction, and inclusive economic growth.
As more young women gain skills, confidence, and financial independence, communities grow stronger, and the nation moves steadily toward a more equitable and prosperous future.
