RwandAir has been honored with an award for excellence in customer service within Africa at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
The national carrier received the award on Friday, September 18, 2026, from Skytrax, an organization that recognizes outstanding airlines and airports across the African continent.

Award Presented in London
The 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony was held in London, United Kingdom, and brought together airline executives from around the world.
Following the event, RwandAir said the recognition was made possible through the collaboration between its staff and passengers.
The airline thanked its passengers for their continued trust and its employees for the professionalism and dedication they demonstrate in serving travelers. “To our passengers: thank you for choosing us, for trusting us with your travel plans, and for giving us the opportunity to welcome you and share the beauty of our country.
To our exceptional team: thank you for the warmth, professionalism, and dedication you demonstrate on every flight and in every interaction from your daily operations to the way you welcome and care for each passenger. This award belongs to you, too,” the statement read.

RwandAir Recognized in 2025
The latest recognition comes a year after RwandAir was recognized as the best airline operating on the African continent at the 2025 World Airline Awards.
At the same awards, Singapore Airlines was named the best airline globally. It took the top position from Qatar Airways, a partner of RwandAir, which finished second.
Cathay Pacific ranked third, followed by ANA All Nippon Airways in fourth place and Turkish Airlines in fifth. On the African continent, Ethiopian Airlines was recognized as the leading carrier, marking the ninth consecutive time the airline had won the award.

From RwandAir Express to RwandAir
RwandAir is Rwanda’s national carrier and began operations on December 1, 2002, under the name Rwandair Express.
In 2009, the airline rebranded as RwandAir, the name it continues to use today.
Since its establishment, the airline has expanded its operations and is currently considered one of the fastest-growing airlines, serving destinations across Africa, Asia and Europe.
Growing Fleet and Network
RwandAir’s fleet includes Boeing 737-800NG, Boeing 737-700NG, Bombardier Q-400NG and Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The airline’s expansion has enabled it to connect Rwanda with a growing number of destinations across different regions, strengthening its role as the country’s national carrier and an important link between Rwanda and international markets.
