Rayon Sports FC defeated Bugesera FC 2‑0, boosting their chances of representing Rwanda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
After missing out on the Peace Cup (Igikombe cy’Amahoro) following a penalty shootout loss to APR FC last Saturday, Rayon Sports shifted its focus to securing second place in the league to guarantee continental qualification. Since both domestic trophies were won by APR FC, Rayon must finish as runners‑up to qualify for continental football.

Matchday 33 Victory
On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Rayon Sports hosted Bugesera FC in the Rwanda Premier League. Bugesera, who had beaten Rayon earlier in the season, prepared intensively for the clash, aiming for a top‑eight finish to secure financial rewards.

Rayon dominated the first half but faced resistance from Bugesera’s goalkeeper, Dauda Barelli, leaving the score 0‑0 at halftime.

In the second half, Ndikumana Asman broke the deadlock in the 60th minute after a pass from Nshimiyimana Emmanuel Kabange. Later, in the 89th minute, substitute Aziz Bassane sealed the win with a goal assisted by Tambwe Gloire, ending the match 2‑0.
Race for Continental Qualification
This victory strengthens Rayon Sports’ chances of finishing second, a position they are contesting with Kiyovu Sports. Rayon now has 55 points, three ahead of Kiyovu. For Kiyovu to overtake Rayon, they must beat them by at least 2‑0 in the final match to tie on points.

Since head‑to‑head results are considered, and Rayon won 2‑0 in the first leg, a 2‑0 win for Kiyovu would push the decision to overall goal difference, favouring Kiyovu.
