Police FC has announced that it has parted ways with seven players whose contracts had expired, including striker Byiringiro Lague.
Season Performance
The Rwanda National Police club endured a disappointing 2025/26 season. Although it started strongly, the team finished sixth in the league and was eliminated by Rayon Sports in the quarterfinals of the Peace Cup.
The only silverware Police FC managed to secure was the Heroes Cup in February, defeating APR FC on penalties. However, this achievement was not enough to qualify them for continental competition, as they had done in the 2024/25 season.
Players Released

The club’s management responded to the poor performance by making major changes, beginning with players whose contracts had ended. Among those released are:
- Nigerian striker Ani Elijah
- Ghanaian defender Issah Yakubu
- Nigerian player David Chimezie
- Burundians Msanga Henry and Richard Kirongozi
- Ugandan Allan Kateregga
- Rwandan striker Byiringiro Lague, the only local player in the group
Reports suggest that Msanga Henry may continue his career with Rayon Sports, having already agreed to a two‑year deal.
Possible New Signings
So far, Police FC has not announced any new signings. However, possible targets include goalkeeper Tuyizere Jean Luc, who has finished his contract with Mukura VS, and midfielder Hoziyana Kennedy, who has completed his contract with Marine FC.
Looking Ahead
This restructuring reflects Police FC’s determination to rebuild after a difficult season and prepare for stronger performances in the future. The changes signal a fresh start, with management aiming to restore the club’s competitiveness both domestically and in continental competitions.
