Ngoma District has officially launched an identity verification and citizen photography exercise as part of the rollout process for Digital National Identity Cards. The activity began on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in selected sectors of the district.
Official Launch of the Exercise
The exercise was launched in Mugesera Sector and Mutenderi Sector, marking the beginning of a wider registration process.
The ceremony was officiated by the Mayor of Ngoma District, Niyonagira Nathalie, alongside security organs and Manago Dieudonné, who is the Head of the Identification Department at the National Identification Agency (NIDA).

Mayor’s Remarks
Mayor Niyonagira Nathalie described the initiative as an important step forward in improving service delivery through technology. She noted that the Digital Identity Card will help address challenges previously faced by citizens, especially issues related to losing traditional identity cards.
She encouraged residents to participate actively and provide accurate information so that no one is left behind.
She stated: “The Digital Identity Card will facilitate access to various services, including healthcare, financial services, and others. We encourage citizens to participate in large numbers and on time so that everyone can obtain it without any difficulties.”

Residents React to the Initiative
Citizens who have already taken part in the exercise expressed satisfaction with its organization and efficiency.
Mukandayisenga Jeanne from Mugatare Cell in Mugesera Sector welcomed the initiative, saying it had been well organized and brought closer to the community. She noted that the Digital Identity Card would make accessing services easier and eliminate the problem of losing physical cards.
She said: “We are pleased with how this exercise has been brought closer to us and conducted efficiently. The Digital Identity Card will make it easier for us to access services, as no one will face the problem of losing it anymore.”
Another resident, Niyonsenga Eric from Akabungo Cell, highlighted the importance of data security and fraud prevention.
He said: “This new identity card will greatly help in securing our personal data and ensuring access to reliable services. We thank the government for introducing this modern system that enables us to store our information digitally.”
Continuation of the Exercise
The registration exercise will continue across all sectors of Ngoma District. Residents are encouraged to follow the official schedule and visit nearby administrative offices to complete their registration and update their personal information.
