During the launch of Inkomezabigwi Phase 13 at Kiyombe Sector in Nyagatare District, Deputy Mayor Juliet Murekatete told the youth to develop strong values so they can become true role models. She said this is key for building a strong Rwandan society and contributing to national development.
Deputy Mayor Murekatete emphasized that young people are the pillar of unity and development. They should show integrity, good behavior, and strong values in all their actions.
“You should have stronger values than others. You cannot teach values to others if you do not have them yourself. Our unity gives us these values and the strength to serve our country,” she said.
She added that Itorero Inkomezabigwi participants must serve others, work with local leaders on development projects, and promote unity and civic responsibility everywhere.
Responsibilities of the Youth in the Camp
The Deputy Mayor explained that the camp would train youth on Rwandan history, cultural values, national vision, innovation, and active participation in development.
Three participants—Ariane Uwase, Jean Claude Mukamana, and Alice Habimana—pledged to follow her advice and set a good example in behavior and civic engagement.
“We commit to being role models in values, promoting unity, and helping others in the development of our families and country,” they said together.
Deputy Mayor Calls for Exemplary Behavior
Deputy Mayor Murekatete encouraged participants to be role models in behavior and values. She said this will allow them to contribute strongly to Rwanda’s future.
The youth were urged to apply the skills and knowledge they gained to solve community problems and improve residents’ wellbeing. They were reminded to strengthen unity and resilience in their neighborhoods.
“You should be role models in values and set an example in good behavior and actions wherever you are,” she added.
