Two junior officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) have completed military studies at the Holeta Military Academy in Ethiopia, during the 71st graduation ceremony of the Metema Long Cadet Course.
The ceremony, held on July 25, was presided over by Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Defense Forces (FDRE Defense Force).
Rwandan Officer Recognized as Best Foreign Student
Among the graduates, Officer Niyigena Lucie was specially recognized as the best performing foreign student, praised for her skills and exemplary conduct during the military training.

Defence Officials Highlight Strong Bilateral Cooperation
The event was also attended by Col. David Sangani, Rwanda’s Defence Attaché at the Embassy in Ethiopia, who highlighted the strong cooperation between RDF and the Ethiopian Defense Forces.
This cooperation reflects the good relations between the two countries, particularly in advancing military knowledge and sharing experiences to strengthen regional peace and stability.

Over Two Decades of Military Partnership
Military cooperation between Rwanda and Ethiopia has lasted for over 20 years, including joint training of soldiers. More recently, this partnership has expanded to include collaboration between the police forces of both nations.
Broad Cooperation Beyond Defence
Beyond military and police cooperation, Rwanda and Ethiopia also maintain ties in agriculture, trade, education, and other sectors.
