The National Examinations and School Inspection Authority (NESA) has announced that the results of Rwanda’s 2025/2026 secondary school leaving examinations are expected to be released within the next few days.
The announcement was made by the Director General of NESA, Dr Bahati Bernard, who said the processing of the results is almost complete.

108,722 Candidates Sat the Examinations
A total of 108,722 candidates sat the national secondary school examinations.
The examinations began on July 15, 2026, with students from secondary schools across the country taking their final examinations.
These examinations are important because the results determine which students have achieved the grades required to continue with higher education.
Results Processing Is Almost Complete
Speaking to RBA on August 28, 2026, Dr Bahati Bernard said NESA had made significant progress in processing and preparing the examination results.
He explained that the results could be released in less than a week and a half.
“The processing of secondary school leaver results has progressed to the point that we can say that in a very few days, perhaps less than a week or a week and a half, we can release the results.”
The announcement means that thousands of students who completed their final year of secondary school are now waiting to find out how they performed.
Successful Students Can Continue to University
Once the results are released, students who obtain the required grades for university admission can proceed to higher education.
In Rwanda, students who qualify for university do not have to wait for an entire academic year before continuing their studies. They can proceed to university after completing the necessary admission procedures.
The results will therefore be important for students planning to continue their education at universities and other institutions of higher learning.
Last Year’s Pass Rate Was 89.1 Percent
In the previous academic year, students who sat the final secondary school examinations recorded an overall pass rate of 89.1 percent.
Boys recorded a pass rate of 93.5 percent, while girls recorded 85.5 percent.
The figures provide a point of comparison as students and education authorities await the results for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Students Await Their Results
With the processing of the results nearing completion, students, parents, teachers and schools are now waiting for NESA to announce the official results.
The release will show how candidates performed nationally and provide successful students with the opportunity to take the next step in their education.
