Residents of Nyagatare District and participants in the Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha event ended the year 2025 in joy and hope, following inspiring messages from various leaders that focused on appreciating achievements made, welcoming new leadership, and preparing for the year 2026.
Governor of Eatern Province, Rubiningisa Pudance first commended the organizers of the event and emphasized that welcoming the new District Mayor of Nyagatare through such a celebration is a strong symbol of unity and cooperation that characterize Rwandans. He noted that while celebrating the New Year is important, it should also go hand in hand with reflecting on what has been achieved and what did not go well, so that the coming year can be even better.
He said, “Celebrating the New Year is important, but it is also necessary to reflect on ourselves and identify areas for improvement so that we can make greater progress in the year ahead.”
He went on to say that Nyagatare District holds a significant place in the country’s liberation history, and that this history is a valuable asset that residents should harness for their own development and that of the nation as a whole. He stressed that it is difficult to visit Nyagatare without being reminded of Rwanda’s history, particularly the beginnings of the liberation struggle.
He added, “The reason we are here today is because we have a secure, developing country that is appreciated by its citizens. That is of great value. We must ask ourselves how we can make better use of the opportunities we currently have. What can we do in 2026 to take a step beyond where we are today?”
In his concluding remarks, the Governor wished the champions of Nyagatare District and residents in general good health, opportunities, peace, and prosperity. He encouraged them to continue engaging in activities that improve their livelihoods while also making a meaningful contribution to the development of Rwanda as a whole.
The new Mayor of Nyagatare District, Kakooza Henry, also wished participants a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, while especially thanking all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the organization of the Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha event. He noted that the event was organized to celebrate the positive milestones achieved by the district and the country at large over the past year, as well as to prepare strategies and goals for the coming year.
He said, “This Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha is a great opportunity to celebrate what we achieved in 2025, but also a moment to reflect on our direction and what we need to improve in 2026.”
Held for the fourth time, the Inkera y’Imparirwakurusha event once again served as a platform to renew commitment to working together, safeguarding the achievements made, and looking ahead to the future of Nyagatare District and the country at large, in pursuit of sustainable development and improved livelihoods for citizens.
