The Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda, received the Ambassador of Mali to Rwanda, Brig Gen Boubacar Diallo, for talks focused on strengthening military cooperation between Rwanda and Mali.
The meeting took place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Kimihurura, Gasabo District, Kigali.
Focus on Strengthening Military Cooperation
According to the Ministry of Defence, when Minister Marizamunda welcomed Brig Gen Boubacar Diallo, they held “discussions centered on issues of mutual interest to both countries and on further reinforcing the existing military cooperation between Rwanda and Mali.”
Commitment to Strong Bilateral Relations
Both countries also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing good relations, particularly in the areas of security and military collaboration.
Cooperation Built on Existing Agreements
Rwanda and Mali already share cooperation in various sectors based on agreements signed at different times, including 19 agreements concluded in 2024.
These agreements followed a three-day meeting in May 2024 that brought together delegations from both Rwanda and Mali.
Broad Partnership Across Key Sectors
Among the agreements signed were those in the fields of health, security, agriculture, technology, culture, and investment promotion.
