Youth affiliated with the FPR-Inkotanyi in Ngoma District donated a cow to Mr. Nemeye Celestin. This gesture aimed to recognize his role in stopping the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and liberating the country.

The Event and Its Purpose
On Friday, April 3, 2026, the youth league presented the cow to Nemeye Celestin. He lives in Rukoma Cell, Sake Sector, in Ngoma District.
This initiative aimed to honor his contribution to the liberation struggle. In addition, it recognized the efforts of those who helped end the Genocide. The activity also showed appreciation for former RPA soldiers. They are known for their bravery, sacrifice, and role in building a peaceful Rwanda.
Youth Perspective on the Gesture
According to Betty Mapinganzima, one of the youth members, the donation carries deep meaning: “We chose to give this cow to Nemeye Celestin as a sign of appreciation. It also reflects our respect for the bravery of the RPA. They sacrificed their youth to secure the peace we enjoy today.”
Lessons Drawn by the Youth
Furthermore, Cedrick Ndikubwimana highlighted the lessons learned from this history: “These actions teach us to love our country and serve it with dedication. Those before us set a strong example. Therefore, we must protect and continue that legacy.”
Messages from the Honoree and Local Leadership
Meanwhile, Nemeye Celestin expressed gratitude for the recognition. He also encouraged the youth to remain committed to their country: “I sincerely thank this youth for their initiative. This cow is not just a gift. Instead, it represents love and trust in our shared history.”
In addition, the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, Cyriaque Mapambano Nyirindandi, praised the youth. He urged them to stay focused on a better future: “Inkotanyi sacrificed their lives at a young age. As a result, Rwanda now enjoys peace and unity. These actions show that the legacy continues. Therefore, we encourage you to stay united. Avoid drugs and anything that could harm your future. You are Rwanda’s tomorrow.”
