Tuju and his driver have not been seen since March 21, 2026. Police later found his car abandoned in Karen, near Nairobi. This discovery raised concern about his safety.
Background and Public Role
Raphael Tuju served as Foreign Affairs Minister from 2008 to 2009 under Mwai Kibaki. He later remained active in politics and business.
Prior Warning and Police Action
Tuju had earlier reported a security concern. His lawyer, Paul Nyamodi, said an unmarked vehicle followed him for some time.
Police are now reviewing that report. They are also working with other agencies to find him quickly.
Legal Disputes Add to Concerns
Tuju faces several legal disputes linked to his company, Dari Limited. The cases involve debts of about $15 million. Some parties want to auction his properties in Nairobi.
He had also accused police of interfering with his business operations. Some opposition figures now suspect foul play, but the government has not commented.
