On Friday, June 19, 2026, in Nyagatare District, a trade fair showcasing products from private sector operators was officially launched, attracting a wide range of participants, including government officials, businesspeople, and artists.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Nyagatare District, Kakooza Henry. Upon arrival at the exhibition grounds, he was warmly received by various entrepreneurs who were showcasing their products. He then joined other district officials to formally open the exhibition gates.

More Than 200 Exhibitors Participate
This year’s trade fair has brought together more than 200 private sector operators engaged in various activities aimed at promoting economic development and improving community welfare. Exhibitors include those dealing in agricultural products, livestock products, children’s entertainment, handicrafts, decorative items, and other business activities.

Mayor Highlights Services and Entertainment
In his remarks, Mayor Kakooza Henry welcomed and thanked all participants, noting that this year’s exhibition has been combined with entertainment activities to further bring the event closer to the people.
He said: “This year we have combined the trade fair with entertainment so that artists can meet the public and present performances. In addition, we have also brought different district services, including land services and Irembo services, so that people with various issues can receive assistance. The goal is to make this exhibition a good opportunity for solving citizens’ problems and bringing services closer to them.”
Artists and Entrepreneurs Welcome the Initiative
The event also featured an artist known as Ndayambaje Mohamed (Real Lion), who said the exhibition is of great benefit to him in promoting his music.
He said: “Having this exhibition in our district is a great opportunity. I came here so that my music can reach many people, help me find a market, and create opportunities for promotional deals through music.”
Another participant, Kamperwa Dancira, who came to showcase soaps used for different hygiene purposes, expressed her satisfaction with the event being held locally instead of abroad.
She said: “Having the expo in our district is very valuable. We used to travel abroad, but now that it has come to us, we get customers from our neighbors and families. It is very beneficial and gives us security and confidence in our businesses.”
Exhibition to Continue Until June 22
The Nyagatare District authorities stated that the exhibition will not be limited to a single day but will continue until June 22, 2026, and will conclude at Nyagatare Stadium.
