The leadership of Bank of Kigali has commended its female employees for their strong contribution to the bank’s growth and for their continued dedication to delivering quality financial services.
The recognition came during a celebration organized for staff to mark International Women’s Day. The event took place on the evening of March 13, 2026, at the Kigali Serena Hotel in Kigali.
The gathering formed part of a month-long program organized by the bank under the theme “Urabikwiye,” aimed at celebrating and empowering women among its employees and customers.
Every branch of Bank of Kigali was represented during the celebration of International Women’s Day.
Celebration Brings Together Women Across the Bank
The event brought together about 200 women representing colleagues from different BK branches and the bank’s headquarters.
The initiative aimed to recognize women’s contributions to the institution while also encouraging them to continue playing an active role in its development.
BK CEO Highlights Women’s Role in the Bank’s Success
The Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Kigali, Diane Karusisi, said women working at the bank are a key force behind its progress.
She praised their daily commitment and passion, noting that their efforts help the bank maintain strong growth: “You come to work every day and give your strength and passion, and that helps BK continue to grow. As we celebrate this day, we thank you and will continue supporting you so we can move forward together. We want to take this bank to the global stage, and that is possible.”

Balancing Professional and Family Responsibilities
Flora Nsinga also highlighted the dedication of women employees, especially their ability to balance work responsibilities with family roles.
She noted that many women at the bank serve not only as professionals but also as mothers, sisters, advisors, and pillars within their families and communities: “The commitment and professionalism you show in your work play a major role in the growth of Bank of Kigali. Many of you also carry responsibilities outside the workplace. Balancing all these duties while maintaining excellence at work is not easy, and that is why we celebrate you today.”
The Human Resources Manager at Bank of Kigali, Flora Nsinga, praised the dedication of women working at the bank.
Women Share Stories of Determination and Opportunity
During the event, several women shared their personal experiences and encouraged others to pursue their goals.
Annick Uwamahoro, who has hearing and speech impairments and leads an association of women with disabilities, said her condition did not prevent her from studying and working.
She explained that people with disabilities today have greater opportunities in Rwanda because the country promotes equal rights.

Another employee, Anne Marie Igiraneza, who works in the small business clients department, said women at BK receive opportunities based on their abilities and skills.
She emphasized that competence, rather than gender, determines professional advancement.
Igiraneza added that her role also allows her to encourage other women to use financial services such as loans and business financing programs, many of which are specifically designed to support women entrepreneurs.
