Rwanda’s IremboGov platform has won the GovTech Prize 2026, an international award that recognizes excellence and innovation in government technology. The award highlights IremboGov’s role in transforming public service delivery by making government services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-centered.

Award Presented at World Governments Summit
The GovTech Prize was presented during the World Governments Summit in Dubai, a global forum that brings together leaders, policymakers, and technology experts. Rwanda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, John Mirenge, officially received the award, underscoring Rwanda’s growing reputation as a leader in digital governance.
Simplifying Access to Public Services
Through IremboGov, citizens can access a wide range of government services online. These include applications for birth certificates, national identity cards, driving licenses, business permits, and social support programs. As a result, the platform has reduced long queues, minimized paperwork, and limited the need for in-person visits to government offices.
Boosting Transparency and Economic Growth
Since its launch, IremboGov has processed millions of transactions, improved transparency, and strengthened trust between citizens and public institutions. In addition, the platform supports economic development by helping entrepreneurs and small businesses obtain licenses and permits more quickly, thereby encouraging investment, business growth, and job creation.
Future Plans for Digital Expansion
Looking ahead, Rwanda plans to expand IremboGov by integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and enhanced mobile access. These upgrades aim to make services faster, more secure, and easier to use. Winning the GovTech Prize 2026 not only celebrates past achievements but also confirms Rwanda’s long-term commitment to innovation and excellence in public service delivery.
