Media pioneer Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, died on May 6, 2026, at the age of 87. He changed television forever. In 1980, he launched CNN, the first network to provide news 24 hours a day.

Health History and Lasting Legacy
The cause of death has not been announced. However, Turner shared in 2018 that he had Lewy body dementia. This condition affects memory and thinking.
Despite his illness, Turner remained a respected figure. In addition to his work in media, he supported environmental causes and philanthropy.
Today, many consider him one of the most influential figures in modern journalism. He leaves behind five children and fourteen grandchildren.
