President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, arrived in Kigali on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to participate in the Nuclear Energy Innovation Summit for Africa (NEISA), a major continental meeting focused on the future of nuclear energy in Africa.

Before departing for Rwanda, President Samia bid farewell to various government leaders at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Upon her arrival in Kigali, she was welcomed by Usta Kaitesi, the State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda.

NEISA Summit Participation
The NEISA summit brings together African heads of state, government officials, ministers responsible for infrastructure and energy, policymakers, investors, nuclear energy experts, financial institutions, and development partners. They will discuss how nuclear energy can help solve Africa’s electricity challenges.

Summit Goals and Focus Areas
The summit, which began on Tuesday, is expected to explore strategies for expanding access to electricity across Africa, reducing environmental pollution, supporting industrial development, advancing innovation in nuclear energy technology, and increasing investment in sustainable energy projects across the continent.
