A poll conducted by the Quaest institute shows Senator Flávio Bolsonaro narrowly ahead of Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ahead of the presidential election runoff scheduled for October 25, 2026.
The results, released on Wednesday, October 14, show that 46% of respondents support Flávio Bolsonaro, compared with 44% for Lula. Flávio is the eldest son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

Poll Shows a Narrow Difference Between Candidates
Although the poll places Flávio Bolsonaro ahead, the two-percentage-point difference falls within the survey’s margin of error of two percentage points.
This means the results do not establish a clear lead for either candidate, as the reported levels of support are statistically close. Among respondents, 9% said they would cast blank or invalid ballots or abstain from voting, while another 1% had not yet decided whom to support.

First Quaest Poll Since the First Round
The survey is the first poll released by Quaest since the first round of voting earlier in October. Flávio Bolsonaro’s performance in the first round attracted attention after he finished ahead of Lula, setting the stage for a closely contested runoff.
The latest findings suggest that the race remains competitive as both candidates seek support ahead of the October 25 vote.
Survey Details
Quaest conducted the poll among 2,154 people between October 10 and October 13, 2026. The survey has a margin of error of two percentage points, meaning the reported figures should be interpreted with that uncertainty in mind. The results represent respondents’ stated voting intentions at the time of the survey and do not determine the outcome of the election.
