Members of the Rwandan Patriotic Front in Gicumbi District pledged to increase efforts to solve social challenges affecting residents.
They made this commitment during the party’s General Assembly held at the district level on Saturday. The meeting brought together party members and local leaders.

Participants discussed ways to improve housing, sanitation, and child welfare. Leaders said cooperation between citizens and local authorities is essential for development.
Leaders Highlight Housing and Sanitation Challenges
Leaders presented data showing the social challenges that still affect Gicumbi District.
According to the report, 134 households do not have proper housing. Another 893 households live in houses that need renovation.
The district also has 79 households without toilets. In addition, 2,798 toilets need rehabilitation.
Leaders also noted that 231 households share living spaces with livestock. This situation can create hygiene and health problems.
Community Mobilization to Support Vulnerable Families
Members of the Rwandan Patriotic Front promised to mobilize communities to support vulnerable families.
They plan to help residents build new houses and renovate damaged homes. They also want to improve sanitation facilities in affected areas.
Leaders said community participation will play a key role in solving these problems. Cooperation between citizens and authorities will speed up progress.
Leaders Call for Stronger Nutrition Programs
Leaders also discussed the problem of child malnutrition and stunting. They said improving child nutrition must remain a priority.
Parents and community leaders were urged to support nutrition programs. These programs promote balanced diets and good hygiene.
Officials said healthy children will help build a strong and productive society.
Renewed Commitment to Community Development
At the end of the meeting, party members renewed their commitment to community development in Gicumbi District.
They pledged to work closely with citizens and local authorities. Their goal is to improve housing, sanitation, and social welfare.
Leaders said joint efforts will help ensure that residents continue to benefit from development across the district.
