The Fédération Internationale de Football Association has announced major highlights for the opening ceremonies of the 2026 World Cup, confirming that the celebrations will take place in three cities: Toronto, Mexico City, and Los Angeles. With just one month remaining before the tournament begins, the competition will be hosted across Mexico, United States, and Canada from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Cultural Celebrations to Open the Tournament
As tradition dictates, the opening ceremonies will feature vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances from host nations, parades, and live musical shows. FIFA confirmed that this year’s ceremonies will bring together 22 artists across the three host cities, making it one of the most entertainment rich openings in World Cup history.

Mexico City to Kick Off the Celebrations
The first ceremony will take place on May 11 at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City. The event will feature Grammy winning Mexican band Maná, alongside artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and Belinda.

Toronto and Los Angeles Lineups Announced
On May 12, Toronto will host a lineup of Canadian and international artists, including Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Vegedream, William Prince, and Sanjoy. The same day, Los Angeles will host a major global showcase featuring Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, Lisa, Rema, and Tyla.

Historic Tournament with 48 Teams
The 2026 World Cup will be the second edition in history to be jointly hosted by three countries, following the 2002 tournament.
It will also be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, including debutants such as Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan.
The expanded format and global entertainment lineup highlight FIFA’s push to make the 2026 edition the most spectacular World Cup ever staged.
