Rwanda Crowned Champions in Both Categories
Rwanda’s national youth handball teams, both under 18 and under 20, have won trophies at the IHF Trophy Zone V Tournament held in Addis Ababa.
In the U18 category, Rwanda secured victory after defeating Burundi 39–38 in a closely contested final.
Meanwhile, the U20 team claimed the title by beating Ethiopia 39–37.

Rwanda Dominated the Tournament
The competition had been taking place in Ethiopia for several days, with Rwanda delivering impressive performances throughout the tournament. Both the U18 and U20 teams won all five matches they played during the competition.
In the U20 semifinals, Rwanda eliminated Kenya with a 41–33 victory, while the U18 side knocked out Uganda 34–30 in their semifinal clash.

Qualification for African Championship Secured
By winning the Zone V trophies, Rwanda secured qualification for the African Championship in both categories. The continental competition is scheduled to take place in Abidjan in September 2026.

Victorious Teams Expected Back in Rwanda
The victorious teams are expected to return to Rwanda on Saturday at 4:30 PM. The delegations will be led by coaches Antoine Ntabanganyimana and Bagirishya Anaclet.
