The celebrations for the 21st edition of Kwita Izina have begun in Musanze District, with a concert bringing together several Rwandan artists ahead of the main gorilla naming ceremony.
Artists including Kenny Sol, RunUp, Marina, Okkama and Senderi Hit were among those who welcomed guests at the #KwitaIzina21 event scheduled to take place in Musanze District on September 4, 2026.
The concert, held as the opening act of the main event at Stade Ubworoherane in Musanze District, features both well-known national artists and performers from the region. Those welcoming attendees include Marina, Kenny Sol, Okkama, RunUp and Senderi Hit, as well as Kevin Montana from Musanze.
More Artists Expected to Entertain Guests
In addition to the opening concert, guests attending the KwitaIzina21 celebrations are expected to be entertained by The Ben, Riderman, Bwiza, Chriss Eazy, Kivumbi, Ariel Wayz, Senderi Hit and several other artists.
The performances are part of the celebrations surrounding Kwita Izina, giving visitors and residents an opportunity to enjoy Rwanda’s music while participating in one of the country’s major tourism events.

22 Baby Gorillas to Be Named
The main naming ceremony scheduled for Friday, September 4, will see 22 baby gorillas given names, as Rwanda continues its annual celebration of mountain gorilla conservation. The ceremony brings together Rwandan officials, local residents, international visitors, conservationists, artists, sports personalities and other invited guests.
