The Inspector General of Rwanda National Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, on Tuesday, August 4, welcomed the Director of Public Security in the Kingdom of Jordan, Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Abedrabbuh Maaitah, at the Police Headquarters in Kacyiru.
Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Abedrabbuh Maaitah and his delegation are in Rwanda for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two police institutions.
Growing Cooperation Between the Two Institutions
IGP Namuhoranye said their visit reflects strong and growing cooperation between Rwanda National Police and Jordan’s Public Security Directorate.
He said: “It is a pleasure to host you in Rwanda and at the Police Headquarters. This visit builds on the important steps we have taken in our relations. Two years ago, we established a framework for cooperation in policing and security, laying a strong foundation to further promote collaboration between our institutions.”
He noted that the cooperation is based on the good relations between the leadership of both countries, which provides confidence in advancing shared interests.
Exchange of Experience and Security Strategies
He said: “This visit is an opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore effective ways to implement our commitments.”
The IGP presented the progress Rwanda Police has made in building its capacity, stressing their commitment to improving public security and service delivery. He added that they are eager to learn from others’ expertise, as security challenges are becoming more complex, with criminal groups exploiting technological advances and operating across borders.
He said: “I am confident that our joint efforts will play a major role in developing sustainable strategies for security and stability. In Rwanda, we believe that cooperation between countries, whether bilateral or multilateral, is a cornerstone for achieving lasting peace and security sought by the international community.”

Jordan Commends Rwanda Police and Calls for Expanded Collaboration
Maj. Gen. Maaitah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Rwanda and praised Rwanda Police’s role in maintaining public security. He emphasized that cooperation between the two sides is reinforced through agreements and will continue to expand into practical programs aligned with modern policing needs.
He said: “I see this visit as a continuation of our journey and also a new step to strengthen tangible cooperation between Jordan and Rwanda. I hope we will establish broader agreements with clear programs requiring joint participation for implementation.”
Focus Areas for Future Cooperation
He highlighted areas of cooperation including technology, service delivery, police-community relations, capacity-building training, and more.
He said: “We are ready and willing to share experiences in technology, training, and knowledge exchange. We also wish to build and benefit from the strong expertise you have achieved here in Rwanda.”
Existing Cooperation Agreement
On September 2, 2024, Rwanda National Police and Jordan’s Public Security Directorate signed a cooperation agreement covering capacity building through training, information and expertise sharing, and collaboration in security areas such as counter-terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and others.
